Reviews

Loved staying at Portneuf Bend. The scenery was beautiful. We were greeted with a smile and they were willing to help us find a spot that worked for our family. If we are ever in the are, we will camp here again.

Camp sites are spacious and have individual fire rings and picnic tables. Electrical hook-ups only. River is at back of park and good access for swimming and tubing.

The History of Lava Hot Springs

The volcanically-heated hot springs of Lava Hot Springs, ID weren't always a tourist spot for people to relax. In the past, many, especially Native Americans, may have used the waters of the springs for healing and curative purposes. The hot springs were part of a Native American reservation until the 1800s, when the U.S. Government purchased the land. Then in 1902, those lands become public for everyone's use.
